Harriett R. Fitzer, 90, of 134 Fitzer Dr. passed away on Wednesday January 13, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Health Care.

Harriett was born on April 24, 1919 in Ilion the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Marguerite (Jess) Rockwell. She was educated in Ilion schools and on June 28, 1942 she married John K. Fitzer he passed away on February 20, 1989.

Harriett was employed as an Avon Lady in Ilion for over fifty years and was also President of Fitzer Homes Inc. in Ilion. She was a member of the Church of The Annunciation in Ilion, Catholic Daughters Court St. Bridget serving as Past Regent and State District Deputy; she was also a Eucharistic minister. Harriet was also active in the Annunciation School, the Ilion Council of Catholic Women serving as past President. She was also a member of Mohawk Valley Business Women. Harriett was always the happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Harriet is survived by two sons Jack and his wife Lynn Fitzer of Ilion and James Fitzer of Utica. A daughter Mary and her husband Steve Morse of Ilion a daughter in law Joann of Ilion. Her grandchildren; Tracy Casanova, Michael (Carole) Fitzer, Kathryn Morse, Jacqueline (Christopher) Bray, Jill (Andrew) Schrader, and Johnathan Morse. Her 12 great grandchildren; Andrew and Paige Fitzer; Jacob, Bailey, Marguerite and baby girl Bray born on January 13, 2010; Mattea and Will Schrader; April, Amber, Carli and Bree Casanova. Special nephew Wayne Darling and cousin Sam Jess. She was pre deceased by a brother Joseph Rockwell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 16, 2010 at 1:30 pm at the Church of The Annunciation in Ilion. The Very Rev. Anthony Barratt and Deacon James Bower will officiate. Friends may call on Friday January 15, 2010 from 4-7 pm at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego St. in Ilion. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Mt. Oliviet Cemetery in Whitesboro. Friends are asked to consider memorial donations to either the Ilion-Frankfort Food Bank or the Ilion Ambulance; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
