William A. Owens, 85, of 138 West Clark Street, Ilion passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at his home.
Bill was born July 26, 1926 in Ilion the son of the late William J. and Dorothy Perry Owens, he received his education in the Ilion School System and on February 14, 1945 Bill enlisted in the US Navy serving until July 13, 1946.
Bill was employed with Remington Arms as a toolmaker retiring several years ago. During his free time Bill enjoyed his family, especially his great nieces and nephews, he loved animals and enjoyed bowling, hunting and especially his camp.
Bill is survived by a nephew and his wife Richard "Rick" and Debbie Owens of Westmoreland, a niece Cindy Owens of Nashville, TN, a sister in law Louise Owens of Sun City, FL, his great nieces and nephews, Bryan, Trevor and Danielle Owens and several cousins. Bill was predeceased by his brother Richard.
In keeping with Bill's wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service with military honors will be held at a later date in the Armory Hill Cemetery in Ilion. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion.

About Us
The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
