Obituary of Clara Elizabeth Fredericks

Clinton - Ilion - Clara E. Fredericks, 90, of Clinton and formerly of Ilion, peacefully went to God's arms Saturday, July 10, 2021 at home surrounded by her devoted family, friends, and prayer.
She was born in Fort Plain on March 15, 1931, the daughter of the late Victor and Jesse Voght and was educated in Fort Plain Schools. Clara was married to the late Harold Bibik Sr. in 1949. She was later married to the late Herman Fredericks until his passing in 1994. She was a Private Duty Nursing Aid for many years, caring for countless individuals until her retirement in 1991.
Clara was always active in the community and was a member of several Church and service organizations. She loved family gatherings, baking, gardening, playing cards, and her prayer group. She was a communicant of the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion.
She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Kathy and Bob Joy of Clinton; her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer and Rick Bachelder of New Hartford, Kimberly and Tom Christiano of Marcy, Christina and Chaminda DeCosta of Sri Lanka, and Amy Joy and Devin Radigan of Dolgeville; her great-grandchildren, Logan Giordano, Derek, Kaitlyn and Jaymes Bachelder and Ayomi DeCosta expected in two weeks, Kaylin & Zoe, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Harold Bibik Jr in 2020; one sister, Ada Palmateer and three brothers, Herbert Voght, Victor Voght and Clifford Voght.
Calling hours will be Monday, July 19, 2021 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St., Ilion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM at Annunciation Church, 50 West St, Ilion, with Father Paul Catena officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Little Falls.
Clara's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Hospice and to the Doctors, Nurses and Caregivers at St. Elizabeth's Hospital for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Clara and her family.
In lieu of floral offerings, contributions in Clara's memory may be made to the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion or to Hospice and Palliative Care.

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
