Obituary of Shirley Odessa Lennon

Ilion Shirley Odessa Lennon, 86, of Ilion passed away peacefully at home on Friday May 6, 2022, with her loving family by her side. Shirley was born on December 19, 1935, in Harrisville, NY. She was the daughter of, the late, Earnest and Mary (Stacey) Brayton. She was a graduate of Harrisville Schools and on April 23, 1955, she married Stanley Lennon in Harrisville, Stan passed away on May 23, 2019. Shirley worked with Stan as Office Manager at Lennon Nationwide Insurance until they retired in 1997. Shirley was an active member of Annunciation Church in Ilion, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and past president of Annunciation PTO. She was also a member of the K of C Aux. and Star Lake Fire Dept. Aux. Shirley volunteered her time with the local food pantry and was a den mother with both the Cub Scouts and Brownies. Most of all, Shirley was devoted to her family. She is survived by her children Randy and his wife Jane of Fayetteville, GA, David and his wife Janet and Steven and his wife Cyndi all of Myrtle Beach, Joann and her husband Michael Perras of Cape Cod, Scott and his wife Joanne of Auburndale, FL, two daughter-in-laws, Carol and Angie, a sister Lenora Cochran of Charlotte NC, eight grandchildren, Christine, Natalie, Elizabeth, Sarah, Daniel, Rachel, Shane, and Madyson, 5 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother Earnest Brayton and a sister Leatrice Osborne. A memorial mass for Shirley will be held on Thursday, May 12 at 10:30am at Annunciation Church in Ilion. Fr. Paul Catena will officiate. In keeping with Shirley's wishes there are no calling hours and in lieu of flowers friends are asked to consider memorial donations to Catholic Charities 61 West St. Ilion, NY 13357. Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home 100 Otsego St. in Ilion.
