
Obituary of Marion B. Lawrence
Ilion – Mrs. Marion B. Lawrence, 92, of Ilion, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at Little Falls Hospital.
Marion was born in Ilion on August 26, 1929 to Joseph A. and Edna S. Baker. She was a graduate of Ilion Central School and Utica School of Commerce. She was a charter member of the ARC Herkimer Board of Directors, formed in 1969 and was active for 50 years before being conferred to Board Member Emeritus.
She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Ilion where she served in many capacities, including Treasurer and choir director for 40+ years.
Marion was predeceased by spouses, Orlyn Irving, Melvin Blann, Sr. and Burton Lawrence; brothers, Robert Baker and Edward Baker. Also, a daughter in law, Candace Irving, step-daughter, Diane Holzschou and step-daughter and close friend, Christine Mergenthaler.
She is survived by children, James Irving (Shuli), David Irving (Sandra), Jane Gochenour (Gerald) and Cynthia Reed. Also by step-children, Melvin Blann, Jr., Judith Cox, Deborah McDuffie, Robin Cunningham, Scott Lawrence, Bruce Lawrence; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
Her family wishes to thank special friends, Carol, Betty, Jeanne and Robin. Also, her caregivers at the Mohawk Homestead, Alpine Nursing Center, and Little Falls Hospital.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 21, 2022 from 12:30-2:00 PM at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St, Ilion, NY. Her funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 2:00 PM in the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home with Pastor John Partice, officiating. She will be laid to rest at the convenience of her family in Armory Hill Cemetery.
