Shirley J. Favat 81 formerly of Ilion, now residing at the Folts Home Herkimer passed away Monday April 18, 2011 at the Little Falls Hospital.
She was born May 6, 1929 in Ilion the daughter of the late Glenn and Maude Springer Camp, and received her education in the Mohawk and Ilion schools. In 1946 she was united in marriage to John J. Favat. After their marriage Shirley and her husband resided in Van Nyes California for a period of time. John passed away in 1986
Shirley was employed as an assembler with Sperry-Rand in Ilion retiring several years ago, Shirley
was a member of The Church of the Annunciation in Ilion.
Shirley is survived by two sisters Esther Stone of Ilion and Eileen Watson of Mohawk; two nephews Harold and his wife Pat Stone of AL and Raymond (Putt) Watson and his wife Donna of Ilion, as well as a special cousin Sharon Ferdula of Frankfort.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be held on Tuesday April 26, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Church of the Annunciation in Ilion with the Very Rev. Anthony Barratt officiating assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be held in the San Fernando Mission Cemetery Mission Hills, California.
In keeping with Shirley's wishes there are no calling hours.
Friends are asked to consider memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, envelopes will be available at the funeral home or the church.
Arrangements are with the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home Inc. 100 Otsego Street Ilion.

The Whiter Funeral Company was started in 1893 by H.A. Whiter and was originally located in Forestport, NY. Following a fire in Forestport, the family relocated in Ilion, and reopened the funeral home in the early 1900's.
